So, it turns out that you don’t just set-out to skate 3000+ miles without some type of training! I will be in no rush on this trip, since I will be stopping to speak at many colleges, universities, and high schools, but I want to be in shape to skate 20-40 miles in a day no problem. I am on a long marathon skating training regimen, that will have me in shape for a 38 mile marathon by the time I take off from the Statue of Liberty on Labor Day. Below is a chart with my schedule and planned mileage. BTW… I am carrying the flag and wearing the cape when I skate! Hit me up, if you’d like to come out and train with me!
