R&R

I’m spending the day recovering and hanging out with my new friend and fellow Kettering alum, Jason. Jason took me into his home and also took me over to his parents home for a great dinner and some good story-telling and laughs. 🙂

Good Old Kettering Ingenuity

I tried and tried to find a place to purchase a new brake for my skates today but to no avail. Fortunately, Jason suggested that we put our engineering hats on and make our own solution: a “tire brake.” We ended up grabbing an old junk tire for free from a shop near by, chopped out a chunk of rubber, bought just the right size screw, and mounted to the bottom of the brake. Pictures below. How’s that for Kettering ingenuity?

Don't put this on your truck!

Oh yes: We counter-bored that screw! (engineering jargon) 😉

I’m probably way too excited about this. I’m just so proud!
