Scorch the Desert
Many who have set out to walk a great journey have described their experience in the desert. The desert is the place of testing. It is the place where the depth of not only our character but also the character of our dream is measured. It is the arid and desolate place which refuses to provide the encouragement we so desperately plead for with scorched hearts.
The distance between each oasis of encouragement must be stretched so that we may be allowed to war within uncertain hearts. The desert heat must be allowed to scorch any thought of escape from the destiny we chose for ourselves. Every ounce of external and empty hope must be excreted, sapped, and evaporated until nothing is left but the path before which continues into us.
Only when all other options are removed and what remains is the determined will that shatters all mountains and overcomes all obstacles; only then do we have the courage to light the fire of true freedom within our being. Everything must be melted away by the scorching heat until all that remains is that path and destiny that flows out from and upward before us. Only when we let go of ourselves and become nothing but our idea can we pass through all criticism and doubt as spirit – the spirit of our dream.
When all external noise is removed and we are wholly the essence of our cause, then and only then, do we have the courage to light the fire within that will scorch the desert itself and mock its challenge. So shall we pass as spirit and as fire over the bridge into our destiny.
