Sometimes, skating across America is messy business…

My plans to skate across the bridge over the Mississippi River were thwarted today. The only non-interstate bridge is under repairs and totally blocked off. I’ve skated by “Road Closed” signs before, and I’ve even climbed fences, but this would have meant climbing about 4-5 feet out to the side of the bridge on a flimsy gate and hanging about 50 feet above the rocks below… Bad idea. Plus, I’m pretty sure the police would have just loved that. Since the nearest alternative crossings were 100 miles away in either direction, I made the executive decision to be reasonable and hitch a ride on the interstate across. Thanks Anthony and Tammy (hope I remembered the names right)! I’ll have to find a way to make up for that short little in-pass, but I’m calling it “forgivable.” 😉
