Today was spent sorting out our little disaster with the RV crash for the most part. I am currently sitting in the RV in the parking-lot of an auto-repair shop here in Providence, RI. I decided to go for another “night-blade” tonight, and that was incredible!
With all of the craziness leading up to the official launch date, it It has become hard to believe that I’m actually skating across the country. I’ve been so busy taking care of everything that I had to stop myself today and realize that I was losing focus on my motivations for taking this trip. Today’s skate helped me to find that. I had several very inspiring conversations. One in particular stuck out: I was able to speak to a couple band members from “Guns of Summer.” If you’re into the alternative rock scene, you should definitely check them out.
All of my interactions today reminded me of something: Why I am doing this. It’s simple really: I want to inspire people to have the courage to take their first steps toward creating their own freedom. I believe that freedom will come when people are passionately connected to the work of their own hands, like the band members from Guns of Summer. I strive to challenge others to have the passion, boldness, and conviction to take on the seemingly impossible and make it happen anyway.
It is so important to remember that ambition, good fortune, finances, and connections will get us nowhere until we know what we are striving for and why. Nietzsche said it best: “He who has a why can endure any how.”Your challenge today: write down 1-3 of your most important goals and ask yourself, "Why? Once you know why you are doing something, it is easy to find the ambition and motivation to make it happen. Too many people get stuck on the how and never answer the why!
BTW: I fell asleep about three times while writing this post (once during this sentence!). 😉
